I love it when I can carve out a little time to be creative. There’s something so satisfying about sitting down with a handful of beautiful beads and components and seeing where they take you.

Here is one of my recent pieces—a bold, colorful statement necklace made with chunky resin chain and sparkling glass-like baubles. I hope it inspires you to carve out a little creative time of your own!

A Simple Idea With Lots of Possibilities

For this necklace, I started with Jet black resin chain as the foundation. The chunky links make a strong statement on their own, while also giving plenty of places to add colorful details.

I then added an assortment of 14mm Glitter Baubles in bright jewel tones. The combination of ruby red, kiwi green, amethyst, royal purple, sage, silver, and teal creates a playful mix of color and sparkle.

I love how mixing several colors keeps the piece feeling spontaneous and fun. You could easily change the color palette to suit your own style—try warm reds and oranges, cool blues and greens, or even an all-pastel combination.

The beauty of making your own jewelry is that there really isn't a wrong way to do it!

Make It Your Own

This is one of my favorite things about working with beads: you can start with the same basic components and end up with something completely different.

Use this necklace as inspiration, then experiment with your own combination of colors, shapes, and textures. Add more baubles for a fuller look, space them out for something a little more subtle, or mix in your favorite vintage beads and charms.

You don't need a huge block of time or a complicated project to get creative. Sometimes all it takes is a few beautiful components and a little time to play.
